Responsible investment in environmental sustainability is booming, at a time when the world’s leading investment firms are putting the energy transition at the heart of their operations. And it is in this context that a new management company specialising in photovoltaic energy is being created in Spain, which its founders have named Austral Venture Gestión.
The management company, registered this July with the CNMV, will be led by Jaime Ventura, Juan Ruiz and Francisco Fontán, who have more than 35 years of experience in the entire value chain of investment opportunities in the renewables sector.
Seville-based Austral Venture Gestión plans to launch its first investment vehicle with a portfolio of up to 570 megawatts (MW) of greenfield PV in Spain. The vehicle, which will have a 10-year duration, is aimed at institutional investors and family offices seeking to diversify their sources of return in the coming years in the current context of low interest rates.
“With this project, we aim to offer investors the possibility of diversifying their portfolios by investing in one of the great challenges we face as a society, the energy transition, while giving investors full visibility of the assets in which they invest”.

The company has a diversified portfolio of projects in different regions, spread across six strategic locations, all of them areas with excellent solar irradiation and proven technology, according to the management company. The main differential value of Austral Venture is that they offer investment opportunities in ready-to-build projects (in the RTB sector).
Austral Venture Gestión’s management team includes Jaime Ventura, who founded Everwood Capital and participated in the development of more than 345 megawatts of photovoltaic projects, with 15 years of experience in the renewables sector. Juan Ruiz and Francisco Fontán also come from the investment banking world, having held senior positions at Banco Popular and Banco Santander.
